What children will learn
- Estimate how long tasks take and plan time realistically
- Balance different types of activities across a day
- Review a plan and adjust it based on what worked
You'll need
- This page printed
- A pen and coloured pencils or highlighters
How to do it
- Brain-dump everything you'd like to do these holidays, plus things you need to do (chores, practice, appointments).
- Sort each item into a type: Move, Learn, Help, Fun or Rest. Give each type a colour.
- Fill in the timetable for a typical day. Aim for a mix of colours, put harder tasks when you have the most energy, and agree on screen time with your family.
- Leave some blank 'buffer' time — plans always take longer than expected, and free time matters too.
- Trial the timetable for three days. Tick what you did, then change anything that didn't work.
Make it easier
Plan just a morning with three activities, and draw a picture for each.
Make it harder
Plan a full week, including a bigger project broken into daily steps, and try working in focused blocks with short breaks.
Parent tip: Treat it as their plan, not yours. Agree on a few non-negotiables up front (such as chores and screen limits) and let them arrange the rest.
