What children will learn
- Set specific, achievable goals
- Break a big goal into small steps
- Reflect on progress
You'll need
- This page printed
- A pen
How to do it
- Think about the holidays ahead. What would make them feel great when they're over?
- Write three goals: one learning (e.g. master the 7 times table), one fun (e.g. learn a card trick), one helpful (e.g. cook dinner once a week).
- For each goal, write the first small step and when you'll do it.
- Stick the planner somewhere visible and tick off steps as you go.
- At the end of the holidays, reflect: what went well, and what would you do differently?
Make it easier
Pick one goal and draw a picture of finishing it.
Make it harder
Use the SMART method (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) for each goal.
Parent tip: Share one of your own goals too — modelling is powerful.
