Brisbane School Holidays

The next QLD school holidays are the summer school holidays, officially from Saturday 12 December 2026 to Tuesday 26 January 2027. The last day of term is Friday 11 December 2026. Brisbane's riverside parks, cultural precinct and subtropical climate make it easy to mix outdoor play with indoor learning. Schools follow the Queensland state school calendar.

Local tips for Brisbane families

  • Weather: Summers are hot, humid and stormy; winters are dry and sunny. Plan outdoor time for mornings in the warmer months.
  • Queensland doesn't use daylight saving, so summer sunrise is early — great for morning outings before the heat.
  • Your local library is one of the best free school holiday resources: most run craft, reading and STEM sessions during the break.
