Darwin School Holidays

The next NT school holidays are the summer school holidays, from Friday 11 December 2026 to Tuesday 26 January 2027. The last day of term is Thursday 10 December 2026. Darwin's tropical climate shapes school holiday plans: the dry season suits outdoor adventures, while the wet season calls for indoor and early-morning outings. Schools follow the NT government school calendar.

Local tips for Darwin families

  • Weather: The dry season (roughly May to October) is warm and sunny; the wet season (roughly November to April) brings heat, humidity and storms.
  • Never swim in natural waters unless signs say it is safe: crocodiles and box jellyfish are a real risk in the Top End.
  • Your local library is one of the best free school holiday resources: most run craft, reading and STEM sessions during the break.
