What children will learn

  • Research facts from reliable sources
  • Write clear questions and answers
  • Learn about Australia, New Zealand and the world

You'll need

  • Paper and pens
  • Library books, an atlas or reliable websites for research
  • A homemade trophy

How to do it

  1. Give each player a topic: capital cities, Australian or NZ landmarks, famous inventors, animals of the world, or history of your town.
  2. Each person researches and writes five questions with answers. Encourage checking facts in two places.
  3. Run the quiz with each person hosting their own round.
  4. Keep score and award the trophy. Finish by sharing the most surprising fact you learned.

Make it easier

Younger children can write picture-based questions (‘Which animal is this?’).

Make it harder

Include a ‘map round’ where players label places on a blank map.

Parent tip: Researching the questions is the learning; the quiz is the reward.

Fantastic work! Every little step helps you grow.
